ONI Launches Free, Open-Source Tools to Make Nanoparticle Research More Accessible Than Ever
SAN DIEGO, CA and OXFORD, UK, June 12, 2025 –
Oxford Nanoimaging (ONI), a global leader in super-resolution microscopy and single-particle analysis, today announced the launch of EVP2 Axis and LNP Axis—two free, open-source tools that make it easier for scientists everywhere to analyze nanoparticle data and uncover new biological insights.
Designed for use with ONI’s CODI platform, these tools enable scalable, high-quality analysis of extracellular vesicles (EVs) and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs)—from single samples to complex, multi-dataset experiments. By offering these tools at no cost, ONI reinforces its mission to make cutting-edge science more accessible, intuitive, and collaborative.
“EVs and LNPs are dynamic and heterogeneous, and profiling these nanoparticles requires population-level analyses to identify subpopulations of interest,” said Dr. Abbie Neininger-Castro, Senior Scientist at ONI. “We want to bring the future of scientific research to the present by providing open-source, free analysis tools for a deeper understanding of nanoparticles.”
Built for Scientists. Designed for Discovery.
EVP2 Axis and LNP Axis were developed with researchers in mind—enabling advanced, high-quality nanoparticle analysis without the need for coding or custom scripting. These intuitive tools make it easier to explore large, complex datasets with confidence and clarity.
With them, scientists can generate publication-ready plots, conduct population-level analysis, and compare results across chips, conditions, and datasets—all without writing a single line of code. By launching EVP2 Axis and LNP Axis, ONI continues to champion accessible science and the democratization of single-particle analysis. These tools eliminate technical and financial barriers, empowering more researchers to shape the future of medicine, biology, and materials science.
EVP2 Axis
Built for EV research, this tool makes it easy to assess tetraspanin positivity, EV size and morphology, and biomarker abundance across multiple chips and fields of view (FOVs).
LNP Axis
Tailored to LNP analysis, this tool enables scientists to evaluate cargo and ligand positivity, nanoparticle counts, and size distribution—all from raw imaging data via CODI.
Both tools offer:
– Standardized and custom plot generation
– Full color and grouping control by chip, FOV, or marker
– Fast, scalable comparison across multiple samples and experiments
– Deep population-level insights into particle behavior and biomarker profiles
Both tools are now freely available to the scientific community:
