Terms and Conditions

  • The Promoter is: Oxford Nanoimaging Limited (ONI) (company no. 10023177) whose registered office is at Linacre House Jordan Hill Business Park, Banbury Road, Oxford, England, OX2 8TA.
  • There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
  • The winner will be offered access to a Nanoimager S, super-resolution microscope for a period of 2 months.
  • By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  • The competition is not open to employees or contractors of Oxford Nanoimaging Limited, or any person directly or indirectly involved in the organisation or running of the competition or their direct family members.
  • The applicant(s) may be an academic researcher (faculty, postdoc, fellow, PhD student) or a scientist in industry.
  • The applicant(s) confirms they are acting on their own behalf and not for the benefit of any other person.
  • The applicant(s) and their team must be able to provide the resources required to conduct the project for its whole duration, i.e. staff, biological materials, access to other necessary equipment, etc.
  • If the applicant(s) wish to use the prize on their own premises, the applicant(s) will formally enter a collaboration agreement with ONI for the duration of the two-month period, under terms agreeable to both parties.
  • Closing date for entry will be 10/06/2019 (at 23:59 PST). After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
  • No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
  • All entries must be received through the entry form.
  • ONI reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of ONI's control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by ONI.
  • The winner will be selected by ONI based on the quality of the scientific project and the likelihood of such a project to deliver a meaningful contribution to extracellular vesicle research, using microscopy.
  • ONI is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
  • The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and ONI reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
  • The winner will be chosen by ONI.
  • The winner will be announced on 20/07/2019. The winner will be notified by email on 20/07/2019. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, ONI reserves the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and select a replacement winner.
  • ONI's decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current EU data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant's prior consent.
  • The winner's name will be available 28 days after the closing date by emailing the following address: hi@oni.bio
  • The start date of the chosen project should be no later than the 5th January 2020.
  • If no entry meets a sufficient academic standard, no prize will be offered.
  • The equipment shall at all times remain the property of ONI, and the winner shall have no right, title or interest in or to the equipment (save the right to possession and use of the equipment during the two-month period).
  • The winner shall be responsible for the proper custody and care of all equipment provided by ONI and shall ensure that the equipment is kept and operated in a suitable environment, used only for the purposes for which it is designed, and operated in a proper manner by properly trained competent staff who have had authorization from ONI to use or operate the equipment in accordance with any operating instructions provided by ONI.
  • The winner shall never part with control of (including for the purposes of repair or maintenance), sell or offer for sale, underlet or lend the Equipment or allow the creation of any mortgage, charge, lien or other security interest in respect of it.
  • The winner shall not use the equipment for any unlawful purpose.
  • Nothing in this competition intended to, or shall be deemed to establish any partnership or joint venture between any of the parties, constitute any party the agent of another party, or authorize any party to make or enter into any commitments for or on behalf of any other party.
  • Each party undertakes that it shall not at any time disclose to any person any confidential information concerning the business, affairs, customers, clients or suppliers of the other party or of any member of the group of companies to which the other party belongs (including, in relation to the winner any confidential information concerning the equipment, Equipment function or assembly, software, buffers or reagents).
  • The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
